Saturday September 15th was Iowa’s 3rd game of the year. Iowa hosted an in state rival, UNI. Adelyn joined us for the weekend. It was her first trip to Iowa City! We didn’t take her to the game though, but we made sure she got the tailgate and pre-game experience!
Aunt Mel & Uncle Steve came from Chicago for the game. And our friends Brandon & Brittany {along with their 2 little boys, Brody & Brayden} also came. Brandon joined Kyle, Steve, & Mel for the game while Britt & I hung out back at the hotel with the kids.
Back to tailgating…
Adelyn loved running around, eating yummy snacks, and being a social little butterfly! Gotta love action shots…pre “crash”!
She was a tough girl though and jumped right back up!
Adelyn loved Aunt Mel’s bracelets! Pretty!
We walked around to do some shopping and see the team walk in the stadium. We just happened to run into the cheerleaders and I asked if they’d take a picture with our baby!! Adelyn wasn’t sure what to think!
Everyone headed to the game and Adelyn & I headed to the hotel to meet up with Brittany and her boys. We tried out the swimming pool, but it was a bit cold. Despite the cold Adelyn & Brody didn’t seem to mind. After our swim we watched the rest of the game from the hotel room and headed back towards the stadium to pick them up & say our good byes to Aunt Mel & Uncle Steve.
I think it was a good experience for Adelyn! One day she’ll get to go to a game, but that will be a few years down the road. Kids tickets cost the same as an adult, no child discount. Boo! But we are looking forward to a few years down the road when its our family tradition to spend Saturday’s in the fall in Iowa city cheering on the Hawkeyes!
So cute! She looks like she had a blast! I need to get Emma a little Baylor cheerleading outfit like that!
