4th of July Weekend – Day 1

Kyle’s ENTIRE (siblings, cousins, aunts, & uncles…everyone!) family came home for the 4th of July holiday so we spent the weekend in Poky! But before we left on Saturday, Kyle and I got in a 10 miler and headed up to Mom & Dad B’s house.

Mel has been taking cake decorating classes so she made one for Grandma DeWall’s birthday!

Kyle’s sister, Sarah came home as well with her husband Brian and their daughter, Arianna. They live in CO, so we don’t get to see them too often. Arianna wanted to help Aunt Mel! ;)

We got Arianna a few things…just ‘cause shopping for little clothes is SO fun! I was worried she wouldn’t be too impressed that they weren’t toys…but I was wrong! She loved her new clothes!

She is quite the meticulously little thing…I think she folded and re-folded those clothes about 10+ times!

Kyle had to test out Arianna’s chair! She said he was too big! ;) Abby wanted to try it out too!

 

The final product! Great job Mel!! Unfortunately we had to wait until Sunday night to eat it when the whole family was there!

Arianna quickly warmed up to Abby!! It was pretty cute!    

And I think Arianna quickly warmed up to Aunt Darci too! ;) We had lots of fun spinning in the roller chairs!        

Late afternoon everyone headed into Poky to go bowling, but not before a stop at Grandma & Grandpa’s house so Arianna could give the tractor a spin!

Her legs weren’t quite long enough, but she had fun anyway!

Steve is a pro…he was saying “no pictures please”!                    

Grandma B kept Arianna entertained while everyone bowled! She sure loves her Grandma!! :)

Steve gave Kyle a few pointers…like how to put a spin on the ball…. 

it didn’t go so well the first time around!

But the next time was a different story….spare! :)

After bowling everyone enjoyed a yummy supper and then we headed outside to watch our own fireworks display!

Arianna wasn’t too sure of the fireworks…but she didn’t want to go inside either. She just sat on Grandma’s lap with her fingers in her ears!

Poky 5K

This past Saturday Kyle and our neighbor Mel ran the Pocahontas 5K Against Congenital Heart Defects. Due to various reasons, I decided not to run and be their “race cheerleader”!

Pre-race…feeling good! This was Mel’s first race ever. 

Kyle and his biggest fan!!

Mom B and I snuck out early before they started so we could make sure to see them a few times throughout the race! She was a great chauffeur.

Kyle ran about the first mile with Mel to help her get going and then he took off! Here he is finishing mile 2. I was standing with Mom & Dad B and Grandpa & Grandma DeWall! He took the time to veer off the path & give us all high 5’s! 
Mel was just a few minutes behind Kyle moving right along!

Mom B and I were able to find Kyle one more time!! I think he was giving all he had at this point and was in quite a bit of pain, but pushing through to finish strong!

And here is my man finishing strong with a new PR for him, 26:15!! Great job Babe!!

He was a tired boy afterwards! ;) Water & a seat in the grass was just what he needed after giving his all!

A few minutes later Mel finished her first ever race with a time around 29:30. Great job Mel! Kyle placed 2nd in his age division and Mel placed 3rd! Way to go guys!

Abby & Friends

Last weekend our friend Heidi and her lil malti-poo, Oscar, came to visit!! Heidi is super sweet & always so positive. We always have a good time when she visits! And of course Abby & Oscar enjoy playing together! 

Oscar did get a tad wore out though and crashed on the arm of the sofa!! He is just too cute!

A few days later Abby got a haircut and she was more than over due for one!! Check out the huge difference!

Garage Sale Finds…Part II

Like I said a few weeks ago, it’s no secret I love to go to garage sales! 

Last weekend I found this great basket for $1.00! I can’t wait to use it for a center piece on our kitchen table or coffee table! 

I think my favorite find so far this year is this mirror. Check out how tall it is…it stands up to the light switch! Right now it is a light sage green, I want to paint it black or white! Check out the great detailing on the frame! And this isn’t no flimsy mirror…it is SUPER heavy, that tells you it’s good!

 

And my last find was this little lamp. I wanted something more to add to the night stand next to the day bed and this worked perfect for just $1.00! I’m thinking about spray painting it shiny silver!
