After we said our goodbyes at daycare we hit the road to Omaha for Christmas with my sisters, Dad, Grandma, & my Aunt & Uncle. The day before was a pretty big snow storm that dumped up to a foot of snow across the state of Iowa. Thankfully we made it safely to Stef’s house, but some people didn’t have the same luck. Semis & cars in the ditches were a common site along I80 on the way.
Like I said, we made it safely and Adelyn slept for 2 hours of the 3 hour drive! Stef’s basement is set up with all of Hayden & Lily’s toys. We spent the majority of our time down there over the weekend. In between toys Stef & I tried to get a picture of the 3 kiddos by her tree in the basement. Getting one picture of all three of them looking was no easy task!
After many failed attempts, we gave up. Stef & Geoff made a wonderful supper for us, baby back ribs! Yum! After supper it was bath time!
We may have failed at a picture of the 3 kiddos in front of the tree all looking at the camera, but when they are corralled in the tub there’s no escaping!
The next morning after breakfast we got ready and all the girls {and Hayden} headed off to the Omaha Children’s museum while the guys stayed home and finished prepping Christmas dinner! Before we left Uncle Kyle was playing with Lily and Adelyn wasn’t quite sure about her Daddy playing with another little girl and insisted on him picking her up too!
The Children’s Museum was AWESOME! Thankfully Stef & Geoff got a membership so we didn’t even have to pay to get in! They even had a real bus & police car!
They had a play fire station, a pizza restaurant where you could make your own {pretend} pizza, a play bank, and I’m sure I’m missing/forgetting the other things they had.
I put Lily up on the slide & she wasn’t so sure at first…
…then she decided she LOVED it! So cute!
Adelyn did too!
They even had a grocery store set up with food on shelves, little grocery carts, and even a conveyor belt to “check out”!
One really neat area they had was with balls and you picked them up and put them in little holes, pipes, chutes, etc all over the room. Then it collected them in the middle and an alarm went off and dropped them all on you! So fun!
I think this area would have kept Adelyn busy for hours!
Stef said we didn’t even see all of the museum. Can’t wait to check out more next time we go back. But before we left we went to the “Santa Magic Show”. It was a little over Adelyn’s age, but…
…we did get to see Santa come down the chimney!
It was a fun morning with my sisters and our kids!
Next up is our afternoon celebrating Christmas!
