Christmas Day at Mom & Duane’s

After our Christmas morning at home we headed down to Grandma Cindy’s house for lunch. They prepared a delicious meal and, of course, we all ate too much!

Can you tell the kids were excited to open gifts?!?!

They all got a coloring book and a sticker book…

…and they got right to work coloring away! Avery & Ciana had a little chat session!

Oh hi Avery!

Duane always does a gift exchange for us where you draw numbers & you can steal! Always a good time! Kyle scored this year!

After gifts the Omaha folks had to hit the road ‘cause most of them had to work the next day. So we said our goodbyes and closed out our Christmas day at home as a family!

Christmas at Home

After Christmas at M&P’s we headed home, put out our cookies for Santa, & got the kiddos in bed {much later than normal}! Christmas morning the kids found filled stockings, a Minnie tricycle for Adelyn, and an anywhere chair for Avery!

The look on Adelyn’s face kills me…she does not look impressed, however she was very excited for Christmas morning, as was Avery!
IMG_6481
Matt, Wendi, & Hayden stayed with us so they brought along a few things for Hayden to open Christmas morning too!
IMG_6487
For the record I DID NOT give my daughter crackers, it was the only box I could come up with late one night when I was wrapping!
IMG_6489IMG_6490
She made the entire Christmas season so magical this year! Love her so!
IMG_6491
Yes I do! Ha!
IMG_6498
Checking out their stockings! This was the first year for us all to have our own personalized stockings!
IMG_6500IMG_6501
Daddy was very excited about his Nutella!
IMG_6504
Hayden had to help his lil cuz out!
IMG_6505
After our gift opening we had a nice brunch of monkey bread, fruits, & comfort breakfast bake! Yum!
IMG_6506
Kiddos loved it too!

After we got ready for the day we all headed down to Grandma Cindy’s house for lunch. Click here to see the post about that. When we got home Adelyn was excited to ride her tricycle around! I moved one of the recliners out of the way and she had a nice long straight away to ride! She couldn’t quite pedal at first, but now {mid January} she pedals all over the house!

Christmas Eve at M&P’s

We celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve at Mindi & Preston’s with my sisters, parents, & grandparents. Mindi & Preston moved to a new house over the summer and they have the perfect place to host lots of people!
I printed a few Christmas coloring pages and brought those for the kids to do before supper!IMG_6433
Avery sure was checking out Grandpa Steve!

We had a nice spread of appetizers before our Christmas dinner!
IMG_6435
Mindi had her house decorated so festive & pretty!

For supper we had all the traditional items, ham balls, cheesy potatoes, scalloped corn, strawberry pretzel salad, and dinner rolls! Delish!

After supper we head to the family room for some gifts, but not before we snapped a pic of the girls in their matching dressed from Auntie M!
_DSC9705
The kids had SO MUCH FUN opening gifts this year! I think we could have wrapped empty boxes and they would have loved it! They had a blast! Adelyn & Lily helped pass out the gifts. Lily was very particular about picking up every single piece of wrapping paper too!
_DSC9732_DSC9736_DSC9750
What do I do with this? It's a what? A what? Ohhhhh, it's a casserole carrier! Ha!
_DSC9755
We had a few Merry Birthday’s that night too. Preston birthday is Dec 26th, Stef’s is Dec 15th, and Geoff’s is Jan 4th, so we did gifts while we were all together! And no Stef did not turn 30, Auntie M recycled a gift bag! Made for a good laugh!

They love their Auntie!!
_DSC9769
Avery hung out with Grandma Cindy for gift opening! Love his sweet smile! And look at that sweet lil plane lovin’ his cousin! Hayden wore that costume all night! Silly boy!
IMG_6469_DSC9782
Lily was pretty excited about her new giraffe bedding for her big girl room!
_DSC9787
Do you believe there are 14 months between these two? Avery looks about the size of Lily here!
IMG_6443
Howdy partner!
IMG_6445
So in past years I’ve enjoyed getting the kiddos matching PJs, well last year after Christmas I couldn’t resist these for us sisters! And they had enough of the right sizes for us…oh and they were on clearance for $6!!
_DSC9793
Can ya tell we’re sisters?!?!
_DSC9802
And then Mindi convinced Preston to put Stef’s on and pose for some fun pics! ha!
_DSC9805_DSC9814
And then the kiddos wanted in on the action!

We had a wonderful time with those we love most! I sure do cherish the Christmas season and am so thankful to God for sending his Son!

Big Girl Bed

December 23rd we bit the bullet and took the side off of Adelyn’s crib. She was pretty excited about her big girl bed. We piled pillows on the floor so if she did fall out, she’d have a soft landing. She went down really well and never got out of her bed…IMG_2764
…until about 10pm, I heard THUD! She fell out. And that happened 3 more times. And she wasn’t feeling well, she had a low grade fever & was just very sad. Who can blame her when we had just rocked her world and there was nothing to catch her when she rolled to the side of the bed?!?
We had a bed rail type thing, but that was in our other vehicle that was currently in the shop, so Daddy had to get creative. He grabbed the bottom of the pack & play and shoved it between the rail on her bed and created our own bed rail. It worked the couple nights we needed it, but then Kyle put the actual rail on her bed.
Over the past few weeks she has done SO well. In the mornings she doesn’t get out of bed till she hears us up or Avery crying. And even at that, she usually hollers for us and doesn’t get out of bed on her own. One more step towards our sweet girl growing up! {insert mommy tears here!}
