Iowa Hawkeyes vs ISU Cyclones

Saturday was the “super-bowl” in the state of Iowa. Or Kyle said it was a state holiday!! Either way, it was a fun day!! The Hawks and Cyclones battled it out on the football field and the Hawks won 35-3. And it wasn’t ‘cause the Hawks played that good, it was because the Cyclones played really bad!! I’m pretty sure they have 5 turnovers and a fumble!

We had a little tailgate party in our garage with a few friends!

Sara and Emma came…Vahn did too, but he also went to the Iowa Central game to catch up with some friends!DSC04436

I think every time I see this cute little girl she is doing something new! Saturday she talking up a storm. Mainly saying “Mom” and “Momma”….so cute!!DSC04439

Time to eat!

Emma wanted to pet Abby…but Abby stayed just far enough of away so she couldn’t reach her! Too funny!DSC04463

Nate and Kyle came too with Lauryn! Like her little cheerleader outfit? Just a little something I dug outta my stash!!

Iowa Hawkeyes vs UNI Panthers

Saturday was the home opener for Hawkeye football! And for Kyle it couldn’t have come any sooner! We went to Iowa City on Friday night. Kyle’s sister Melanie and her husband Steve came over from Chicago to go to the game with us. We stayed with some of her friend’s parents. It was so nice to not have to get up SO early Saturday morning! We made a stop at Scheels to stock up on some new Hawkeye gear…so fun!! (and so expensive!!)DSC04352

Saturday morning we got to our last year’s tailgating spot by 6:30am, perfect timing! Just before the lot started to fill up. Steve hadn’t been to a home Hawkeye football game before so we wanted him to have all the whole experience!! We had breakfast, played bag-o, ladder golf, and mingled w/some nearby friends! It was a fun morning. We headed up to the game early to check out all the “vendors” around the stadium and watch the pre-game activities. DSC04353

It was “BE BOLD, WEAR GOLD” day!!

This is Melanie’s friend’s family that were so nice to let us stay with them!! Thanks Laura and fam!! :) Believe it or not, Laura had NEVER been to Kinnick before!! And she grew up just a little outside of Iowa City!!

It was perfect weather for a football game! I wish all games were in weather that nice! Sunny & 70+ degrees!

Herky!!

We saw Shawn Johnson when we were hanging around at half time! I wasn’t feeling the best, otherwise I would have got a picture with her!

It wasn’t the season opener everyone was hoping for. We won 17-16 by blocking 2 field goals in a row at the end of the game!! Way too close!! But as Kyle said, a win is a win! Now we’re looking forward to the big inter-state rivalry Saturday with Iowa State…hoping for a big win!!

Pictures with Emma

My friend Sara’s little girl, Emma, turned 6 months a few weeks ago. They came to Fort Dodge to get her pictures taken and I went to help with Sara with Emma throughout the photo-shoot. She is one of the happiest babies I’ve seen and probably the cutest! Just love her!!!

She wore this little pink Hawkeye outfit we bought for her when she was born! s42052cb109856_27

Sara and I even got to get a picture with Emma. s42052cb109856_28

While Sara was meeting with the photographer to go through the pictures they got, Kyle and I took Emma in her stroller and walked around the mall. We got quite a few comments from friends/acquaintances about how quick my “pregnancy” went by! lol If we had a baby like Emma we would be so lucky, she’s a doll!! Don’t get any ideas though, not yet!!

CRAZY week!!

Life in the Bangert house has been a tad busy these past 8-10 days!

Last Friday I worked late to get ready for the housing students to move onto campus on August 30th. Afterwards Kyle and I went out with Mindi and Preston to celebrate my birthday the next day. We went to Lomitas, one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Fort Dodge! It was a fun evening with them. The waiter found out we were celebrating my birthday and brought the sombrero to wear and they sang to me and I got free friend ice cream!DSC04346

Saturday was my 25th birthday! Kyle worked in the morning and I did a little shopping. Then we had one of his employee’s weddings to go to in the afternoon. It was quite a small wedding so it didn’t last too long. We ended up going to Applebee's for some drinks and appetizers and then headed home thinking we were going to call it an early night, but ended up having a bonfire with Chad and some other friends! Ended up being a great birthday!

At the wedding…it was a little windy! barrys wedding

The yummy cake Kyle got for me!DSC04350

Sunday was day 1 of a BUSY 6 day work week for me. On campus students checked in and then classes started on Tuesday. I did find out our preliminary numbers and they are predicting our enrollment will be up 9-11%. You have to understand that we are usually really happy if we have a 3% increase in enrollment. I guess it explains why my office has been completely swamped this past week.

Right now I'm glad to say the 3 day weekend is here and I probably won’t have to work another 80 hour week until next year at this time! Hope everyone enjoys their long weekend! We are headed to Iowa City for the first football game of the season!!
