Poky 5K

This past Saturday Kyle and our neighbor Mel ran the Pocahontas 5K Against Congenital Heart Defects. Due to various reasons, I decided not to run and be their “race cheerleader”!

Pre-race…feeling good! This was Mel’s first race ever.DSC07547

Kyle and his biggest fan!!DSC07548

Mom B and I snuck out early before they started so we could make sure to see them a few times throughout the race! She was a great chauffeur.

Kyle and Mel just making the first turn. Early in the race and still feeling great!DSC07549
Kyle ran about the first mile with Mel to help her get going and then he took off! Here he is finishing mile 2. I was standing with Mom & Dad B and Grandpa & Grandma DeWall! He took the time to veer off the path & give us all high 5’s!DSC07551
Mel was just a few minutes behind Kyle moving right along!DSC07552

Mom B and I were able to find Kyle one more time!! I think he was giving all he had at this point and was in quite a bit of pain, but pushing through to finish strong!DSC07553

And here is my man finishing strong with a new PR for him, 26:15!! Great job Babe!!DSC07554

He was a tired boy afterwards! ;) Water & a seat in the grass was just what he needed after giving his all!DSC07555

A few minutes later Mel finished her first ever race with a time around 29:30. Great job Mel! Kyle placed 2nd in his age division and Mel placed 3rd! Way to go guys!DSC07560

Abby & Friends

Last weekend our friend Heidi and her lil malti-poo, Oscar, came to visit!! Heidi is super sweet & always so positive. We always have a good time when she visits! And of course Abby & Oscar enjoy playing together!DSC07523

Oscar did get a tad wore out though and crashed on the arm of the sofa!! He is just too cute!DSC07529

A few days later Abby got a haircut and she was more than over due for one!! Check out the huge difference!

Garage Sale Finds…Part II

Like I said a few weeks ago, it’s no secret I love to go to garage sales!

Last weekend I found this great basket for $1.00! I can’t wait to use it for a center piece on our kitchen table or coffee table!DSC07538

I think my favorite find so far this year is this mirror. Check out how tall it is…it stands up to the light switch! Right now it is a light sage green, I want to paint it black or white! Check out the great detailing on the frame! And this isn’t no flimsy mirror…it is SUPER heavy, that tells you it’s good!

And my last find was this little lamp. I wanted something more to add to the night stand next to the day bed and this worked perfect for just $1.00! I’m thinking about spray painting it shiny silver!DSC07541

Austin, Texas

For the past 5 days I’ve been enjoying a conference for work in Austin, Texas.

We flew out early Saturday morning. DSC07415

We had a layover in Dallas and I took the opportunity to try some Red Mango fro yo!! Good stuff!!IMG00035-20100529-1540

When we got to Austin we had some AWESOME Mexican at Chuy’s!DSC07416 DSC07420

Mmmm…chimichanga! DSC07426

The next morning I started out my day with a run around Lady Bird Lake! IMG00037-20100530-0722

After my morning run I met up with a few co-workers for a wonderful brunch buffet, including made to order omelets!IMG00038-20100530-0823

We had a day filled with meetings & sessions. In between though I sat out on the balcony and enjoyed the warm TX weather.DSC07429

Downtown Austin is pretty cool!DSC07434

In between sessions we tested out Blue Bell Ice Cream, something we don’t have in Iowa!DSC07436

Here’s a story for you guys! For the past week before my trip (just for fun) I started doing some research on the next vehicle I want. Nissan Armada was on the top of my list. When we picked up our rental vehicle I got our scheduled car switched to an Armada. I got a 5 day test drive and LOVE it!! Hopefully it will be joining the Bangert family soon! ;)DSC07444

Dinner the next night was another Austin favorite, The County Line!DSC07445   DSC07448

We sat out on the back patio enjoying the warm TX evening!DSC07455

We were entertained by the turtles in the river!DSC07451DSC07453

I definitely enjoyed some BBQ!DSC07477

The next day was filled with sessions and spent the afternoon at the roof top pool!IMG00052-20100601-1518

I forgot to pack my swimsuit so it was a great excuse to get a new one!IMG00051-20100601-1453

That evening we went to Pappadeux for some seafood! DSC07493

I tried all kinds of new things, including alligator and calamari! Both were great!DSC07481  DSC07482

I loved the style of the restaurant, especially the GIANT crown molding!DSC07485

Here I am to prove I ate alligator! Not to sure at first…DSC07486

Going in! DSC07487

It was good!DSC07488

We also had some funny 2 tailed shrimp! DSC07492

That night we went down to 6th street and enjoyed music at the dueling piano bar! It was TOO fun!!IMG00057-20100601-2147

Wednesday was mainly a travel day. We didn’t get home to till 3am…on Thursday! It was an overall great time, but it is always SO good to come home!
