Play Date Thursday

Last night our friend/neighbor Mel has us over for supper! She has two little boys, Diego who is 3 and Mateo will be 2 in July. Mel made some delicious enchiladas for supper and we enjoyed the rest of our evening playing with the boys!

There are one of Mateo’s favorites…or maybe just because they were new! ;)DSC06293

Diego had fun going between Kyle & I on his “motorcycle”…that’s what it calls it anyway! :)DSC06294

We wanted a picture with both boys, but they both wouldn’t sit still long enough! So we just got one with each of them!DSC06300

Valentines Weekend

Chicago Trip

Emma’s 1st Birthday

Emma’s 1st Birthday!

My friend Sara’s little girl, Emma, turned 1 on February 24th! It’s hard to believe a year ago she was a tiny baby with a full head of dark hair! Saturday the 27th was her party at her Grandparents house!

A few weeks ago Sara & I got together and spent the afternoon crafting a few things for Emma’s party! One of the thing we made were her invites! I thought they turned out pretty cute! The wording says:

She’s cute & sweet & so much fun! Our little princess is turning one!

Sara did an awesome job decorating her parents garage with all the fun things she made! DSC06193

She used a punch to make this super cute sign in page!DSC06194

A friend of Sara’s Mom did an amazing job making Emma’s castle cake!DSC06197

One of the other things Sara & I made was the banner! I LOVE how it turned out! And Sara can use it over & over for Emma’s birthday!DSC06198

We also made the pom poms that Sara hung from the garage ceiling! They were fun, super each to make, and made a great addition to the decor!DSC06199

Sara made this super cute pennant banner to hang over the food table!DSC06200

Check out the party hats Sara made…too fun!DSC06201

The party favors that looks like a cake! Sara…great job!!DSC06203 DSC06204 DSC06205 DSC06206

Weekend Chicago Trip

Kyle and I took a long weekend and headed to Chicago to see his sister Melanie and her husband Steve! We had a great weekend seeing the sights, shopping, and spending time with family!
Warning: this is a picture heavy post!
We drove to Chicago Thursday after a short work day. We got to Steve & Melanie’s house and chatted into the wee hours of the morning!
Friday morning Mel was a wonderful host and made us blueberry pancakes before venturing out into the city!DSC06079
We headed downtown to the John Hancock building. We decided not to do the Signature Room for lunch since it was still early and just enjoyed the views from the 95th floor!

These signs were all over downtown! Luckily we didn’t get nailed with any falling ice! :pDSC06107
After the John Hancock building we walked a few blocks down to Nike Town! I was a good girl and only got 3 new head bands! I really wanted some of the new shorts they have out now! They are in fun colors and patterns!!DSC06108

After Nike Town we shopped at Water Tower Place. Kyle found a few major scores…American Eagle jeans for $15!!!DSC06110
Kyle  is a baseball fan as are Steve & Melanie so we did a drive by of Wrigley Field! The bleacher seats on top of the houses across the street were so cool! I had no idea there was anything like that!DSC06115
We headed out of the city for a late lunch. Portillos! I guess it’s a Chicago thing to do!!DSC06116
I was boring and ordered a chicken sandwich. But Kyle got their famous Italian beef sandwich & a hot dog! I didn’t get a picture of the Italian beef…but here’s the hot dog!DSC06117
He goes in for the try…DSC06118
Thumbs up!!DSC06121
Melanie & I stuck with the chocolate cake!! This cake was SUPER moist & amazing!!DSC06122
We enjoyed our new try!DSC06124
We headed backed to their place and took a walk. Kyle thought he could wear my coat! Silly boy!!DSC06131

Sister-in-laws!DSC06132
We spent the evening playing at Game Works!! Too much fun! :)DSC06136DSC06133
This is Kyle’s saying!!DSC06138
The next morning we had breakfast at a cute little diner that seemed quite famous!! Kyle ordered the strawberry pancakes & LOVED all the whip cream that came with it! :)DSC06140
The rest of the day we pretty much just shopped! Which was super fun!! I will take a picture of my look to post later! We also fit in an afternoon siesta before going out for supper.
We wanted to do another Chicago thing….so we went for pizza at Giordanos!DSC06142
Pure amazing-ness!!!DSC06143
We ordered Hawaiian and they got canadian bacon…look at all that cheesy goodness!DSC06144
This was our first time trying Chicago style pizza!! SO good!DSC06145
Afterwards we hit up my FAVORITE place…Coldstone!!DSC06148

We went the economical route and just bought a pint! Mmmm!!DSC06156
Sunday was pretty much just a driving day. Thanks Mel & Steve for a fun weekend and being great hosts! Can’t wait for our next visit.DSC06147
