Happy 4th of July!

I’m not quite up to date with blogging since Adelyn was born, but wanted to sneak this post in since it fit the holiday today! Our little sweetheart wanted to wish everyone a Happy Independence Day….but she was just too tired to keep her eyes open!

We spent the morning  at home doing a few things before heading down to my Mom’s house for a grill out for lunch! We brought festive Jello poke cake for dessert! I hadn’t had this in YEARS until someone brought it over with one of the meals from our church friends. I was quickly reminded how much I love the light, moist dessert!

Auntie M got her Adelyn fix for the day! She held her so long her arm fell asleep!

Uncle P had to get his turn too!

Hayden is such a busy little guy these days, he will hardly hold still to get a good picture! He’s so close to walking! He does really well when you hold just one hand and walk with him. Any day now!

Our niece, Maya, and her parents, Pam & Jeff,  joined us for the day as well. Maya is 5 and will be going to kindergarten this fall. She is one smart little girl!

But also a silly one! I think she would have let Kyle take her picture all day!

Hayden sure does love his Grandma…but who wouldn’t she’s a wonderful Grandma! This was right before nap time.

Adelyn was just waking up here. I wanted to get a good picture of the 3 of us…but I guess you work with what you’ve got when you have a baby!

I just love all the faces she makes! This is one she does quite a bit when she stretches! Looks like she;s puckering up to give kisses!

First Days at Home

Kyle got a week and a half off work for Adelyn’s birth and we enjoyed every minute of it!! Since we didn’t choose her name until her due date a few personalized items were waiting for us in the mail when we got home from the hospital. (I ordered about 3-4 things the day we chose her name!)

One of the items was the vinyl for the nursery! On Friday, Kyle and I got her name put up and did a few other last minute things in the nursery. It was a family project though…

…even Adelyn was in there with us! She hung out in her newborn lounger while we finished up things in her room!

It must have been a rough project though, this little girl was tuckered out!

Over the next few days we just stayed in, relaxed, and enjoyed our time together! We had lots of visitors and wonderful families from our church provided supper for us each night! I cannot even begin to say what a blessing it was to have that each night!

When Adelyn was 8 days old Kyle went back to work. We were sad to see Daddy go for the day, but knew that was coming eventually! Before Adelyn got too big I had to get her in this onesie Aunt Wendi got for her. It is newborn size! It fits her everywhere, except the length! She’s such a long little girl!

And how can you resist cute little yawning pictures! Speaking of yawning…we have been blessed with a really good sleeper! Adelyn will sleep anywhere from 6-8 hours/night! That stretch just doesn’t start until about midnight or 1am. I’m hoping by the time I go back to work I can get her to start that stretch each night a little earlier! But for now, Daddy & I are happy to get that amount of sleep with a newborn!

Going Home

Thursday was our last day in the hospital. It was a lot more laid back & relaxed. We took our time getting ready, snuggled with our sweet girl, and packed things to go home. Aunt Wendi came to help us pack up & go home!

So excited to go home and start this new journey as a family of 3!!!

Abby was SO excited to see us after being gone for 4 days! And of course she was excited to meet Adelyn!!

We settled in and enjoyed our afternoon together! Let the fun begin!!

Hospital Stay

After our first moments as a family of 3, we called our families right away to share the good news! Visiting hours didn’t start until 9am, but we got special permission and had a few early guests! Grandma & Grandpa Greene were our first visitors! Pretty sure my Mom was a little emotional here!

Ok back to all of Adelyn’s visitors! One of our Pastor’s from church came first thing in the morning to congratulate us!

Grandma B came later in the morning to meet her 2nd granddaughter!

Day 1 with our baby girl was amazing! We could hardly believe it, but we were up for 41 hours straight! It was all worth it though!!

Adelyn’s first 2 days she was sporting a mo-hawk…it would NOT lay down for anything! After her 2nd bath though it finally decided to calm down!

We sent Adelyn to the nursery for the night on Tuesday to get some zzz’s after our long day. The nurses brought her in every few hours for feedings. Wednesday morning we were woken bright & early for checks by my doctor and Adelyn saw her doctor as well.

And the visitors started right away! Our friend Laura from church came to say hi! She has a little guy that is about 5 months older than Adelyn.

Grandpa Steve came to meet his first Granddaughter later in the day! I wish I would’ve got a better picture!

Our friend Sarah and her little guy Zane stopped by to meet Adelyn! Sarah & I were due 3 weeks apart and Zane ended up coming 3 weeks early, so they are about 7 weeks apart. And we only live a few blocks away! I’m sure we’ll have lots of play dates!My cousin Christine from TX happened to be in town, which worked out great! She is due with her #4 in October!

Another girl from my office, Addrea, came to visit! I work with such a great group of girls!

Aunt Laura drove home from Chicago to meet her newest niece!

And we had to get a picture with both Uncle P & Auntie M!

By the end of the day Wednesday we were exhausted, but at the same time overjoyed! We had each other, a healthy baby girl, lots of supportive family & friends, and we were looking forward to the next day to take Adelyn home! We kept Adelyn with us in our room for the night and it went pretty well!
