Week in Review

Hi all! I haven’t been very good about blogging this week, so I’ll catch you up on what the Bangert’s have been up to!IMG_4011

Monday & Tuesday were pretty low key days at home, which I love! Grandma & Grandpa Greene visited on Tuesday! Abby had to make sure and get some attention too! Grandma Greene got me to FINALLY cut Adelyn’s nails. It was something I was dreading, but it went surprisingly well!7.12.11 Grandma & Grandpa Greene

We had a few other visitors too and I was not very good about getting pictures. Our friends Mark & Kathy came on Tuesday evening. Grandpa Steve came on Wednesday, and Auntie M came Thursday evening. We love visitors though, even if I’m not good about getting pictures while they are here!

Wednesday Adelyn & I went to see my good friend Kim in the hospital. This is us about 2 months ago!IMG_3793

She had her little guy on Monday (7.11.11) via scheduled c-section. Reece Allen 7 pounds, 7.25 ounces, and 19.5 inches long! Because he was breech his first breath was still inside the womb, and therefore inhaled amniotic fluid, which went straight to the lungs. This has caused some breathing issues, and the doctors have kept Reece in a warmer, hooked up to oxygen, various monitors, and an IV containing antibiotics. After Adelyn & I left on Wednesday Reece had a chest X-Ray that brought to the doctor's attention a touch of pneumonia. So he will be in the hospital a minimum of 7 days. Please keep this little guy & his family in your prayers!IMG_4004

Thursday we had plans to walk with my friend Sarah and her little guy, Zane, but we got rained out. We still had a good time visiting with them though! Zane is 7 weeks older than Adelyn, so Sarah had a few tips & hits of what I can expect in these coming weeks. Once again…I didn’t get any pictures.

Tonight (Friday) we are planning on having a family date night out! I think we are going to go out for supper and then maybe take a trip to Target! Hope everyone has a great weekend and stays cool! Looks like it’s going to be a HOT one!

Our lil Hawkeye

Saturday Kyle, Adelyn, & I went downtown to a new event in town called “Market on Central”. It features all Iowa grown & produced food products and a variety of artwork, crafts, etc! Adelyn joined in on the “Iowa” theme & showed her team spirit! We saw LOTS of friends and even my Grandma! Everyone was excited to see our lil Hawkeye!DSC00274

There’s no denying that Kyle & I are huge Hawkeye fans. Kyle jokes that Adelyn came out with black & gold in her blood! I don’t have many 0-3 mo Hawkeye clothes, but I know we have quite a bit in bigger sizes! It will be a part of her wardrobe that will never be lacking!DSC00277

And of course it wouldn’t be complete with a bow! Our good friend, Jenna, got this for Adelyn! I also have one other Hawkeye bow for her, a girl can never have too many. We also picked up a Viking bow at the Market today! She will be a good fan, showing her team spirit!DSC00279

First Family Walk

Friday when Kyle got home from work we decided it was time to have a family walk! I was past the 2 week recovery mark and felt ready to get in some *light* activity! So Kyle got to work assembling the stroller…easy peasy! DSC00254

And we were on our way! Abby even joined us…but I think by the time we snapped this picture she was half way down the sidewalk! I think she missed all those walks we took towards the end of my pregnancy when we were trying to get Adelyn to come!DSC00263

Adelyn loved her first stroller ride, so much that she fell asleep! And we’re so glad for that, we plan to have many more walks in the future!DSC00265

For those of you questioning why her carrier & stroller don’t match…here’s the deal: The carrier is a hand-me-down from cousin Hayden. He is still able to use his stroller, so we just registered for a stroller that was compatible with the carrier and, thanks to the wonderful girls in my office, we got it! At first I was a picky about it not matching, but I got over that part & just accepted the blessing of the free carrier & stroller! Smile

Adelyn–2 weeks old

I’m a few days behind getting these posted, but they were at least taken when she was 2 weeks old! To say we have been blessed with a good baby is an understatement! Adelyn is amazing (of course we are biased)!! She is such a good eater & will go about every 3 hours in between feedings.  And probably 4/5 nights she sleeps 6-7 hours straight! We’ve even had a few 8 hour nights in her little 2 week life!!DSC00236

Of course she cries & has her moments, but we’ll take it!! No baby is perfect…but we think she’s pretty darn close (once again…we’re biased!). She is our sweet baby girl and we couldn’t feel more blessed by this little (but big at the same time) girl! DSC00246

Friday we had Adelyn’s 2 week dr appointment. She was a little stressed about it…DSC00250

But luckily Daddy met us at the dr office and made it all better! Winking smile She weighed in at 10lbs 7 oz and was 23 1/8 in long! So she’s past her birth weight and grew over an inch! We got a thumbs up from the doctor and were on our way! Thanks goodness no shots were involved at this appointment!DSC00247

Just Born

My sister Wendi has been taking Hayden’s picture each month in a plain white onesie and will edit the photo to add in how many months old he is. I love the idea of getting pictures each month, but I’m not one to do the photo editing.

That is where these hand little stickers come in! There are TONS of different options on etsy (a favorite website of mine!) I ordered them about mid-pregnancy and almost forgot I had the “just born” one. So technically, Adelyn is 1 week old here, but pretty close to just born!DSC00160

“Mom, I’m too tired to take pictures right now!”DSC00163

Just love this sweet little girl! Although I’m in no hurry for her to grow and change, I know it’s going to happen and I think this will be a fun way to document her each month &  then to look back and compare. DSC00164

Catching Up

We are going to rewind a bit from our 4th of July post to get caught up! Our friends, Mark & Jenna (from KC), came up for the long weekend. Jenna was in a wedding and they were excited to meet Adelyn!

They got here late Wednesday night and lucky for them Adelyn is a bit of a night owl, so they got to say hi before bedtime! Mark and Jenna are getting married in September (9.10.11!) and both Kyle & I are standing up with them. We are so happy for them (just wish they would move back to the area)!!DSC00172

I had to get a picture of the gifts they brought. Jenna did such a great job wrapping them! She knows I love polka dots!DSC00175

They got us a Iowa Hawkeye carseat cover and this cute little headband and bow! I can’t wait to dress Adelyn up in all her Hawkeye stuff. Sadly I don’t have hardly any Hawkeye things in the 0-3 mo size. We are ready for this fall though!DSC00176

And who can resist snuggle time with this little cutie! I think this is Adelyn’s favorite way to lay whens she’s tired. Mark & Jenna decided they are going to be Adelyn’s *unofficial* Uncle & Aunt! We were a-ok with that!DSC00179

Kyle got off work a little early the few days Mark & Jenna were here. He is always excited to come home and see his girls! I love being able to be home all day with Adelyn, but we  sure do love it when Daddy comes home for the evening!!!DSC00180

Another personalized thing I ordered the day we chose Adelyn’s name….SheSheMade gowns!!! I just love these!! They are SUPER cute and so functional. Kyle loves that you just pull the gown up for a quick diaper change. I actually ordered this one and one other one she has yet to wear, but I’ll be sure to share pictures when she does!DSC00185

Adelyn’s first official outing (besides her 1 week weight check) was our friends’ wedding reception on Saturday. She wass wonderful! S he slept in her seat the WHOLE time despite the loud music, chatter, and everyone coming up to meet her! Sadly I didn’t get any pictures!

Happy 4th of July!

I’m not quite up to date with blogging since Adelyn was born, but wanted to sneak this post in since it fit the holiday today! Our little sweetheart wanted to wish everyone a Happy Independence Day….but she was just too tired to keep her eyes open!DSC00224

We spent the morning  at home doing a few things before heading down to my Mom’s house for a grill out for lunch! We brought festive Jello poke cake for dessert! I hadn’t had this in YEARS until someone brought it over with one of the meals from our church friends. I was quickly reminded how much I love the light, moist dessert!DSC00186

Auntie M got her Adelyn fix for the day! She held her so long her arm fell asleep!DSC00187

Uncle P had to get his turn too!DSC00212

Hayden is such a busy little guy these days, he will hardly hold still to get a good picture! He’s so close to walking! He does really well when you hold just one hand and walk with him. Any day now!DSC00193

Our niece, Maya, and her parents, Pam & Jeff,  joined us for the day as well. Maya is 5 and will be going to kindergarten this fall. She is one smart little girl!DSC00198

But also a silly one! I think she would have let Kyle take her picture all day!DSC00201

Hayden sure does love his Grandma…but who wouldn’t she’s a wonderful Grandma! This was right before nap time. DSC00211

Adelyn was just waking up here. I wanted to get a good picture of the 3 of us…but I guess you work with what you’ve got when you have a baby!DSC00215

And just for fun, here are a few more of my patriotic little girl!DSC00226

I just love all the faces she makes! This is one she does quite a bit when she stretches! Looks like she;s puckering up to give kisses!DSC00228
