I cannot believe my little boy is only 1 month from being one year old! This has been one of the fastest, toughest, and best years! You are such a sweet lil guy and your daddy, big sissy, and I all love you very much!

January 19th you got your first bought of the upset tummy bug. You threw up 4 times between lunch and 8pm. Despite having an upset tummy, you wouldn’t hardly know it, you still played fairly well. You were just a little extra clingy & whiney and we can’t blame you for that. Poor baby boy!

You still only have 5 teeth. I just know one of these days you’re going to have 3-4 pop through based on your sleep and fussiness lately. Teething bites!

Speaking of sleep, every night I nurse you and give you a 2oz bottle before bed around 6:45pm. I usually put you to bed by 7:10pm and if it’s a good night you sleep till 6am. You’ve had your handful of nights the past month with a few wakeup calls. A quick nursing session and you’re usually good until your normal wake up time or later. Your naps are hit or miss. You usually take 2 naps a day, a morning and an afternoon nap. Sometimes they are 20 minutes, other times they’re an hour!

We dropped a feeding this month. Now you nurse when you wake up, a bottle of pumped breast milk mid-day at daycare {or nurse on the weekends}, and nurse before bed. You did so well with this switch and didn’t miss a beat. You also eat 3 meals a day and an afternoon snack. We have been expanding your foods a lot this month and give you almost everything we are having. You are such a good eater. Daddy and I joke you probably eat 2-3 times the amount your big sissy does!

You have crawling down to a science and I’m guessing by the time you’re 1 you’ll be walking! You are so quick when you crawl and pull yourself up on anything you can. You are scaling the further and cupboards so quickly these days!

You say “da da” and you FINALLY say “mama”! You also say “ba” and “da” a lot when you’re pointing to something you’re interested in!

Oh yes, cupboards, you LOVE to play in mama’s Tupperware, pots, and pans in the kitchen! Who needs toys when you have all these fun things to get into! You do have a few favorite toys, like the nesting doll you’re holding in your pictures this month or a cement truck that you can put balls in and they turn and spit out the back. You also love to use your walker, especially when sissy is riding her tricycle around the house! You LOVE bath time! You splash and “swim” around like a little fish!

You are still quite clingy and prefer to be held. From the time we get home in the evenings during the week till bath time or bed time, you usually are in your highchair ‘cause you’re the happiest there. Otherwise if we put you down to play with your toys while I get supper ready you are in complete meltdown mode! So highchair it is little boy! We usually get in a little play time before bed though!

Although you have presented a few challenges to us, you have completely captured our hearts and we couldn’t imagine our family without you! You are such a sweet boy with a smile that could melt anyone’s heart! I love you so much big boy!

Avery: 10 months

Dear Avery,

January 7th you turned ten months old! Can we really only be 2 months away from having a 1 year old? Just doesn’t seem possible!

We celebrated your first Christmas this past month. You enjoyed ripping the wrapping paper, but would then get distracted by something else going on!

You had a 5th tooth pop through on the top this month. Its just to the left of your top 2. I think you are working very hard on some more teeth because you have been very uncomfortable lately and lots of night time wake ups. Teething bites! {love the look on your face here, what is sissy doing on my photo shoot???}

You still love to be held or at least be in the same room as Mommy or Daddy. If we’re in the kitchen and have to run to the bathroom or something you have a complete meltdown. I think its even worse these days with your teething, poor boy! Some of the time the highchair & snacks will work to keep you content, but not always!

You are still a very good eater! We have tried even more finger foods this month like chicken, pasta, mac n cheese, clementines, pizza {mainly the crust}, and lots more! So far we haven’t found a food you don’t like! Some times we even had a hard time keeping up you eat so much, so fast! Mommy is pretty sure you twice the amount of your sister {or more}!

We dropped a feeding over Christmas break. Now you are at 4 feedings per day. I nurse you in the morning & at night. During the week you get one 6oz bottle of breast milk at daycare, but at home on the weekends you nurse for all 3 feedings. Speaking of daycare you aren’t a great napper at daycare. You may get 2 naps about 40 minutes tops. On the weekends at home its hit or miss, sometimes you’ll nap 20 minutes, other times its 1 1/2 hours! You usually take a morning nap around 10am-ish, afternoon around 1pm-ish, and one more cat nap around 4pm-ish.

Bedtime is still the same bath {if its bath night}, nurse, {Mommy gives you a small bottle too, just to make sure you are full!}, snuggle, white noise machine, and then bedtime. You sleep about 6:45/7pm-ish till 6am-ish. Mommy loves her quiet times with you snuggled in the glider in your room! Like Mommy said earlier, you’ve been waking up quite often over the past few weeks. Mommy thinks we’re both ready for these teeth to come in!

You started regular crawling this month. We were at a friends house and you were playing by sissy & her friend and there was something you wanted and all of the sudden you just started going on your hands & knees! From that point on you’ve been crawling like its your job! You are pulling yourself up and walking around furniture and anything you can lean on! You saw “da da” like crazy. When Mommy say “mama” to you, you just “da da” even more!

You still aren’t a fan of your car seat or changing table! Snacks help in the car and sissy loves to feed you her cereal and you don’t seem to mind! Since we have been changing you on the floor you’ve started crawling away and its become a game. We’ll say “Avery you get back here” and you will crawl away that much faster and just giggle, its so cute {when we aren’t in a hurry to get you changed or dressed}!

You weigh 19.4lbs {on the home scale}. You wear size 4 diapers and are wearing a few nine month clothes and are well into your 6-12 month wardrobe!

Avery: 9 months

Dear Avery,

December 7th you turned nine months old! 3/4 of a year already! Grow down sweet boy!

Your sweet smile can melt anyone’s heart…but…boy oh boy, Avery boy! You sure have a little opinion/temper and when your expectations aren’t met, you make sure to let us know! For example, in the evenings when we get home from work/daycare you want nothing but to be held. I’m sorry sweet boy, but supper will not cook itself! We started putting you in your highchair with a few snacks to keep you content!

Speaking of the highchair, you are the best eater! We have moved into a lot more finger foods this month. We have almost eliminated the pureed baby food completely. You LOVE fruit and will gobble it up faster than anything else on your tray! You are at 4 feedings per day. I nurse you in the morning & at night. During the week you get two 6oz bottles of breast milk at daycare, but at home on the weekends you nurse for all 4 feedings.

We have kept the same bedtime routine the same: bath, nurse, {Mommy gives you a small bottle too, just to make sure you are full!}, snuggle, white noise machine, and then bedtime. You sleep about 6:45/7pm-ish till 6am-ish. Mommy loves her quiet times with you snuggled in the glider in your room! You have been having sporadic nights the past few weeks that you’ve been waking up for a feeding in the night, but usually go right back down. I think those teeth are bugging you.

You love to clap! When we say “Yay Avery” you get all excited & clap along with us! We were more than overdue to lower your crib this month, so Daddy finally got that done so you don’t flip out of it! You still aren’t regular crawling yet, but are SO SO close! You are a fast little army crawler though. If there is something you want you don’t waste any time getting there! You are pulling yourself up on anything you can! Mommy is guessing that you will be walking before 1!

You are not a fan of your changing table or car seat these days. We’ve been changing you on the floor more often and you seem to be more content with that scenery. And sissy will usually share her cereal with you in the car &, for the most part, that will keep you entertained. We used to do mum mum’s, but I think you’re almost passed that phase.

You babble like crazy. You mainly say “da da” or “ta”, no “mama” yet, no matter how many times Mommy repeats it to you! You currently have 4 teeth and Mommy is pretty confident we’ll see some more soon!

At your nine month appointment you weighed 20lbs on the dot and were 28 3/8” inches long. Thankfully you only had to get 1 shot at that appointment, you still didn’t like it though! We just switched you to size 4 diapers, only because we were out of size 3’s and needed some ASAP! They’re a little big, but work just fine! You are wearing a few nine month clothes and are well into your 6-12 month wardrobe!
