Iowa vs. Maine

Saturday was the first home Hawkeye football game. We got up early and headed down. We hoped to get there a little sooner to get some tailgating in, but that didn't happen! We still got there in plenty of time to walk around and check everything out before the game. Our seats are pretty good. Right around the 15-20 yard line. About 35 rows up. Kyle says he would like to be closer, but then we would have to stand the entire game and I wouldn't really want to do that. We'll see next year! It was a great game, we won 46-3!! Nice way to start the season. And it was a really nice day outside too. We actually got a little burnt!! I went to take a picture of us and someone leaned over and said they would take it for us...turns out it was some friends of ours from Fort Dodge...Steve & Jan Piercy! They were just 4 seats over!! So we talked to them for a while afterwards and then got on the road so we would have some time to rest up when we got home. We both had to work on Sunday and knew it would be a long day. Can't wait for next week!! Go Hawks!!

Happy 24th Birthday

We celebrated my 24th birthday on Friday the 29th! Hard to believe I'm already 24!! We both worked all day. When I came home Kyle had the kitchen all decorated with black & yellow. He says it was for my birthday, but I think he was just getting ready for the first Hawkeye game the next day! Either way, it was a fun surprise! We went out with Mark & Kathy for supper to the Otho Pub for all you can eat fish. One of my favorite things!! And my Mom & her husband Dunae were there with the Klatt's (my cousins). So they had to sing to me! It was fun! We came home early 'cause we were getting up at 4:30am the next day to head to Iowa City.

The night before my birthday I got home a little late. My friend, Jill, and I went to another friend's garage sale and got a ton of great stuff! But when I got home Kyle had flowers waiting for me and my favorite ice cream, Ben & Jerry's Half Baked!! Oh it was so good! Overall it was a really nice birthday! And I got lots of really nice cards for all my family & friends....thanks everyone!!

Eeeewwww!!

So we were hanging out over at our neighbor, Chad's, house last night. I went around one of his bikes and there was this HUGE bug!! The guys didn't really believe that it was huge so they weren't too quick to come check it out. But once they saw, they were impressed!!! It so so gross. So Chad thought he had to pick it up. So of course I had to get a picture.

We got the tickets!!

We finally got our tickets in the mail for the Iowa Hawkeye games this fall. I was getting a little nervous because the first game is a week from Saturday...but we got them this week so we're good! Hoping we have a good season!! Go Hawks!!

Iowa State Fair

On Sunday after Ashley left we decided to go the state fair. We went with our friend's Mark & Kathy. It was a fun day and was acutally not too hot, like how the fair usually is!

When we were at the pool on Saturday there was this huge dragon fly on the hammock so I was trying to be creative and get a good picture. I have to say that I think it turned out pretty well!!

And this is Abby on our way home from the pool...she was beat!! She loves the pool, its so funny!! She runs and jumps in and then has to have someone help her out of the pool and then she does it all over again and again and again...etc!! :)

Ashley Came to Visit!

My cousin Ashley from Wisconsin came to visit for a long weekend. I hadn't seen her in about three years, so it was good to catch up. She came on Thursday and stayed with Mom since I had to work. Mom had supper for us on Thursday night and it was ssoo good!! Smoked chops and everything that goes with em!! Then we had a fire and smores!! Friday I had to work as well so Ashley hung out with Mom again and they came to visit me at my office and we went out for lunch at Lomitas (one of my favorite restaurants!). Ashley stayed with Kyle and I on Friday night and we stayed up late just "chatting"! Saturday Kyle had to work and so Ashley and I went to Don & Sherawn's to go swimming. Of course Abby had to come too! Then we went back to our house for some sweet corn for lunch. When Kyle got off work we went out to eat for supper with Mom & Duane for chinese. Saturday night we went over to our neighbor's house and hung out. Ashley had to get up early to get on the road so we made a big breakfast at home and she was on her way. I'm glad she was able to come visit!!

New Windows

We ordered our windows a few weeks ago and they finally came in! I am so excited to get them all in...I really think it will give our house a better look. Kyle has been busy doing them in his free time (with what little he has). I am so fortunate to have such a "handy" husband!! We did get the replacement windows, so they are easier to install. But we are putting in new trim. We hope to have all new white trim throughout the entire house when everything is all said and done! So I just wanted to share these pictures with you. I am quite happy with how they turned out!! We have four done and six to go. We are going to wait on the bay window and have someone install that for us since it's so big! Hope everyone is having a happy "hump" day!

Tornado!

Saturday night Kyle was working on our most recent house project and had to make a trip to Menards. On the way he called me and said go outside...there's a tornado to the west! Well since we live in an area with a bunch of trees I had to drive out of town (about 5 blocks north). It was the oddest thing. It was a bright afternoon with not very many clouds in the sky and then there was this long skinny tornado! So of course I had to get some pictures of it! As far as I know there wasn't any reported damage, but it did touch ground multiple times!

Empty Nest?!?!

So once again it's just Kyle and I in our house! Wendi left to go back to Florida on Saturday. I was definately sad to see her go. Her car was packed to the ceiling. Her friend/roommate rode down with her. It's a good thing they didn't pack anything more than they did! After she left I had a few tears. We were always doing something togther this summer and if we weren't doing anything...we were sitting doing nothing together. It was really nice to have her around! She has a three day trip back to school and will have a week a friend's house before she can check into her dorm and then I am pretty sure she starts classes the week of the 18th! Hard to believe it's that time of year again! Makes me sad that summer is coming to an end.

This picture is from when we had Wendi's campus visit in March of 2007 when she was deciding if she wanted to go there or not. I hope to be able to visit sometime this year...considering it's her senior year!!

Busy Weekend

I know this is a bit late...but better late than never, right?!?! Friday night we had a little "going away party" for Wendi since this was her last weekend home over at the neighbor's house. We grilled out, had a fire and some smores and played some games. It was a good time!! I will definately be sad to see her go, but I know she is ready to get back to "Sunny Florida"!! Sorry I don't have any pictures of that night...I even took my camera over there, just didn't get any taken!

Saturady was a re-cooping day and did a few things in the house. Then when Kyle got off work we hooked out to the trailer (our neighbor's...thank you so much Chad!!) and headed to Pocahontas to help Kyle's sister Laura pack her stuff. And then on Sunday we headed to Omaha to move her to college. She is going to a school there to get her graphic design degree...she's very talented!! It was, I think, one of the hottest days of the year!! And the air in her apartment wasn't working!! The positive thing is that we burned some...or should I say a lot of calories!! Below is a picture of her apartment complex. Once again I wasn't good about taking pictures...I got this from their website. My battery was acutally dead after I took one picture! :(

I hope everyone is having a good week. This week was the our first week back to normal hours and its been a bit rough. I'm really not ready for summer to be over yet!! Just doesn't seem possibly that our sisters should be headed back off to college and students to be coming back here (Iowa Central). But ready or not here it comes!! Hope you all have a good rest of your week!! And hope it goes fast...I'm ready for Friday!!
