Sunday Best

One of my favorite things about having a little girl is getting her all dressed up for church on Sundays. However, this little girl has other ideas!

“Mom, no matter how many times you put this bow in my hair, I’m just going to pull it out!”IMG_3304

Then she will try to distract you…”Look over there Mama!”

IMG_3305

I thought I was getting lucky and captured a few while she was jabbering away sitting on the bench…

IMG_3315

Nope the jabbering was just another distraction. “Told ya Mama, I pulled my bow out again.”

IMG_3317

Then she will pretend like its an accident… “Uh…”

IMG_3319

“…oh!”

IMG_3320

“I’m going for the shoes next!”

IMG_3322

Even though I’ve had some resistance, I’m still going to dress my sweet girl in dresses, bows, cute shoes, etc as long as I can!!

16 Weeks

16 weeks 9.21.12

How Far Along: 16 weeks  {9.21.12}

Size of baby: Baby Bangert #2 is the size of a avocado

Heartbeat: 140bpm at 16 week appointment

Total Weight Gain/Loss: +10lbs

Maternity Clothes: For the most part I’m wearing maternity pants.  Today I wore regular pants with the bella band, but maternity ones  are just so much more comfortable! I’m still wearing all my regular shirts…some are just a bit tighter than others!

Gender Predictions: Kyle is 100% sure we’re having a boy, like I’ve said in previous weeks, because my pregnancy has been different it makes me wonder if it’s a boy, but I know that isn’t necessarily an indicator. We find out in just 3 weeks!

Movement: Just a few flutters every now & then, nothing too consistent. I looked back at my pregnancy with Adelyn and I didn’t feel her move till after our 20 week appointment, but I guess it makes sense that I would feel baby earlier since I know what it feels like this time around.

Sleep: I’m sleeping great…once I get my pillows situated! I like to have one between my knees and hug another one.

What I miss: When everything in my closet used to fit me! Getting ready in the mornings can be frustrating. I need to pick out my clothes for the week on Sundays, so there’s no question in the mornings. And being able to stay up past 8:30pm!

Cravings: I thought I was craving a fountain diet coke, so I caved and got one {I haven’t had one since I found out I was prego} and it was nothing like I remembered and I dumped it out! I’ll stick with sprite & root beer if I need some fizz!

Symptoms: The tiredness is still hanging around. I asked Kyle what he wanted to do tonight and he asked why it mattered to me since I was going to be asleep early anyway. I guess he has a good point! 8pm rolls around and I’m ready for bed! I’m still falling asleep on the couch between 8pm-9pm and then Kyle wakes me up when he goes to bed around 10:30pm. It has actually worked out really well ‘cause then I get another potty break and don’t have to get up in the night to go.

Best Moment this week: We had our 16 week appointment, heard that wonderful thump, thump of our baby’s heartbeat, and scheduled our ultra sound for Oct. 15th! In about 3 weeks we’ll know whether Adelyn is getting a baby brother or sister!

14 Weeks

14 weeks, 5 days 9.11.12

Notice someone extra in my picture this week? Kyle was snapping my picture this week and Adelyn noticed what we were doing and ran over, stood next to meet & smiled big! It was so cute and we got a good laugh out of it! Sometimes it just amazes me how smart she is!

9.11.12

How Far Along: 14 weeks, 5 days {9.11.12}

Size of baby: Baby Bangert #2 is the size of a lemon

Heartbeat: 160bpm at 12 week appointment

Total Weight Gain/Loss: +7lbs

Maternity Clothes:  I’ve started to do the rubber trick on my work pants. I’ve been wearing maternity jeans for a few weeks, they are just so much more comfortable! I’m still wearing regular shirts though.

Gender Predictions: Since the beginning of this pregnancy has been so different, it makes me wonder if it’s a boy this time around. We’ll find out in October!

Movement: Just a few flutters every now & then, nothing too consistent.

Sleep: I’m sleeping great…once I get my pillow situated! I like to have one between my knees and hug another one.

What I miss: When everything in my closet used to fit me! Getting ready in the mornings can be frustrating. I need to pick out my clothes for the week on Sundays, so there’s no question in the mornings.

Cravings: Anything salty!

Symptoms: The main thing is tiredness. I was hoping this would go away since I’m in the 2nd trimester now, but nope! 8pm rolls around and I’m ready for bed! I’ve started a routine of falling asleep on the couch between 8pm-9pm and then Kyle wakes me up when he goes to bed around 10:30pm. It has actually worked out really well ‘cause then I get another potty break and don’t have to get up in the night to go.

Best Moment this week: We began sharing the news with the rest of the world during weeks 13 & 14. We told close friends and people at work and then then around the 1st of September we posted it on our blog & facebook!

12 Weeks

(Note: I actually wrote this post back when I was 12 weeks, just posting it now for my own reference!)

12 weeks 8.23.12

How Far Along: 12 weeks {8.23.12}

Size of baby: Baby Bangert #2 is the size of a plum

Heartbeat: 160bpm

Total Weight Gain/Loss: +3lbs

Maternity Clothes: none yet, all my clothes still fit. I have noticed things are starting to get tighter! Might have to do the rubber band trick & pull out the maternity clothes sooner than last time!

Gender Predictions: Since the beginning of this pregnancy has been so different, it makes me wonder if it’s a boy this time around. We’ll find out in a few months!

Movement: Haven’t felt too much movement this week, a few flutters, but nothing like I did during week 10!

Sleep: I'm starting to wake up once a night for a potty break, but I guess that comes with the territory! Other than that, I’m sleeping great!

What I miss: Nothing!

Cravings: Chips & salsa! We always have salsa on hand, but we rarely buy chips. So on Sunday I made a quick trip to the convenience store down the road for some Tostitos to satisfy my chips & salsa craving!

Symptoms: I went a FULL week without getting {full on} sick. This is a first since June. Saturday I think I ate something that didn’t agree with me and I didn’t feel well for about 18 hours or so, but I don’t think that was completely pregnancy related. I’m hoping week 12 means all the non fun part of the 1 trimester is over! I still need to eat right away in the morning. If I shower & get ready before eating I feel week & woozy! I’m still hitting the hay early too, about 9:30pm or so, but I don’t know if that’s because of pregnancy tiredness or because I’ve been working long hours this week!

Best Moment this week: Sharing the news with our family! As of week 12 we still hadn’t shared the news with the world yet. I’m beginning to think we won’t be able to keep a secret much longer, I feel like my tummy will soon give it away!

10 Weeks

(Note: I actually wrote this post back when I was 10 weeks, just posting it now for my own reference!)

10 weeks, 5 days

How Far Along: 10 weeks, 5 days {8.14.12}

Size of baby: Baby Bangert #2 is the size of a lime

Heartbeat: 178 bpm

Total Weight Gain/Loss: none

Maternity Clothes: none yet, all my clothes still fit just fine!

Gender Predictions: no clue!

Movement: Pretty sure I felt little baby Bangert #2 doing some flips on Sunday, but that has been the only time. I had to quickly google if it was even possible to feel the baby move that early and I found that 2nd time Mom's do tend to feel it sooner than the normal 16-22 weeks.

Sleep: I'm sleeping just fine! In fact I'm usually hitting my pillow around 9/9:30ish!

What I miss: Nothing!

Cravings: Nothing specific, although I've had ice cream about everyday {but that's fairly normal!}.

Symptoms: I have to eat when I first wake up or my stomach feels "ishy" and then I make sure to have a few snacks on hand in between meals so I don't get that feeling. I actually have had a few days in the weeks past where I was full on "sick" {I didn't experience that with Adelyn at all}, but I can handle only 1 day/week! And of course the normal tiredness of the 1st trimester!

Best Moment this week: Seeing our tiny baby on the ultrasound! It really made it sink in that there's really a baby in there and we're going to be a family of 4! God is so good!

Sharing the news, round 2!

Because I was already so far along in my pregnancy we felt it was safe to begin sharing the news with family. We shared the news with Kyle’s parents on Sunday August 19th after church. Kyle said he needed his Dad’s help setting up Adelyn’s new swing set. A good ploy to get them to come over! We had Adelyn come outside with her big sister shirt on to make the announcement to them.

My sister Stef had already set up a skype date for that same afternoon, so we shared the news with her, Geoff, & Lily that day as well. While we were on skype we sent them the picture below to make our announcement! Needless to say, they were so happy for us! Becoming Mom’s has really brought my sister, Stef & I closer and I’m so thankful for that!

IMG_3196-0021

We also had a movie night set up with my Mom & step Dad set up for the next day (Monday Aug 20th), so we knew that would be the perfect time to tell them. Last time it was like pulling teeth to get everyone together for supper, so they I think they all wondered if we had news to share. Yet another difference between the 2 pregnancies! Notice Adelyn’s shirt in the picture above? That is the shirt we had her wear to share the news with both Kyle’s parents & my parents as well!

Wendi and Hayden came for the movie night too, but she already knew. Wendi and I take a boot camp class together at work over our lunch hour. Because I had already been working out, I wanted to continue while I was pregnant. Well one day the week before it was just too much and I had to run out of the class and throw up. She came to check on my to make sure I was ok and said “Are you pregnant?”. My response “Yep!” She was shocked!

We also skyped with Kyle’s sister, Mel, her husband, Steve, and their other sister, Laura that same Monday. We shared the news with them and also Kyle’s Grandma using the same picture we used to tell my sister Stef (pictured above). We still had more family to share the news with though!

My sister, Mindi, and her husband Preston were on vacation in Colorado for 10 days, I was just assuming we’d tell them when they got home the following week. But she happened to call me while Preston was hiking and she was taking it easy. The call started out with “how are you doing/feeling?” And of course I think right away she already knows. I quickly instant message Kyle (we work at the same place) to make sure he’s ok that I tell her over the phone. He was ok with it, so I spilled the beans! I was bummed to not tell her in person, but also glad she knew, I didn’t want her to find out from someone else. And she didn’t already know, I was just paranoid by her questions!

We had a dinner date set up with my Dad and Grandma for Thursday. My Dad called last minute and wasn’t able to come because he was ill. I was bummed, but it ended up being a special evening with just my Grandma. She was very happy for us and we had a great visit.

After all our family knew we began telling our close friends! A few of my girlfriends caught on to some of the signs I didn’t catch onto so quickly and said they wondered! I think our friend Kathy gets the award for the best reaction. Her and husband Mark were on vacation in FL when we began sharing the news so we wanted to tell them ASAP so they heard it from us! They brought pizza over for supper one night and before we sat down to eat I said “Kathy, I need to show you what I got in the mail.” I came back in the kitchen with Adelyn’s {sheshemade} big sister shirt!IMG_3285

Kathy just squealed with excitement and gave me a BIG hug! Mark & Kathy are dear friends who we look up to so much and are like Adelyn’s {adopted} Grandparents, they love her SO much! In fact, Mark always jokes that he’s going to take her home when they leave!

And finally we shared the news with the rest of the world (FB & blog land) with this picture!

Yep! We’re pregnant!

First of all, thank you for all your sweet comments on our Wordless Wednesday post last week! We are so excited to become a family of 4!

Finding out I was pregnant this time was SO different than when I found out I was pregnant with Adelyn. Last time as soon as I was a week late I just knew I was pregnant.  We had been trying for about 5ish months (which I know isn’t long at all!) and finally my “monthly visit” didn’t show up! This time I didn’t catch on to those “clues” so quickly!

WARNING: this post has some girly related info that may be too much for some you. You’ve been warned!

Here’s the background: I nursed Adelyn for 1 year and never got my period. I just finished in June. I haven’t got my period back since then. I finished the mini pill (the birth control you take while nursing) in June and because it did take a few months for us to get pregnant the first time we decided for me not to go on the regular pill when I was done. The month of July I was spot on eating my calories to a “T” everyday and working out about 4-5 days/week. I lost 7lbs that month and for some reason my pants were getting tighter. And lastly, about once a week I got all on flu sick for a whole day and then I’d be fine the rest of the week. Didn’t really think anything of it, just thought I had a nasty bug I couldn’t ditch.

Around the 1st of August I would joke with Kyle, you know I should buy a pregnancy test, he was always like “nah” you’re fine. I even joked with some of my staff at work about it. I really didn’t think I could be pregnant already. Getting sick once a week didn’t really make sense to be “morning sickness” and I wasn’t ever sick when I was pregnant with Adelyn. About a week later we ordered in lunch at work ‘cause we were pretty busy. I ate my sandwich & got this horrible feeling…needless to say it didn’t stay in my stomach. That afternoon I left work, bought a pregnancy test, and waited until Kyle & Adelyn got home to test.

That is another different between this pregnancy & my 1st one, I bought a test without Kyle knowing last time and surprised him. This time he was in the loop! So I took the test when Kyle got home from work on the night of August 6th and waited the 2 minutes in the hall for my results with my little family. Thinking it would be negative (not sure why I thought this…all signs showed otherwise) we walked into our bathroom together and saw those 2 little lines and I said “Kyle, its positive, we’re pregnant!” I took another test the next morning to be for sure and another positive. IMG_3286

We’re going to be a family of 4!

The first step at the OB office I go to is go in to the lab and get blood drawn to confirm the pregnancy. I did that the same week and of course it was positive!

The next week we went in for what’s called your “nurse visit”. You don’t see the doctor, you only meet with a nurse and you answer about a million questions. Luckily it was quick since we were there not too long ago with Adelyn! You also have to have 5 viles of blood drawn at that appointment (I don’t do well with blood draws….but I’m getting better!). At that appointment you also schedule your first appointment with the doctor for when you’re 12 weeks. Well because I hadn’t had a period I had no way to know how far along I was. For some reason this took a while for the nurses to figure out…in fact it took us explaining it to 3 different nurses for them to figure out that we needed an ultra sound to date the pregnancy. Evidentially we’re weird! ha!

We were able to schedule our ultra sound for the very next morning, August 14th! Kyle was guessing I was 8 weeks, but I was thinking less than that, like 6 weeks or so. The ultra sound tech got our sweet, tiny baby on the screen and to everyone’s surprise, it wasn’t just a little bean. Our baby had a distinct head, body, arms, legs…in the back of my head I was thinking: wow, I’m much further along than 6 weeks! She did some measuring and I wiped the tears away (still emotional the 2nd time around!) she told us I was 10 weeks, 5 days and estimated my due date as March 7th! Wow! I almost skipped the entire 1st trimester. Well I didn’t skip it…but you know what I mean! After that morning, it was more real than ever, we’re going to have another baby!

We feel so blessed and our hearts are swelling!
